The Great Teapot Bonanza - Overview

The major event in the Members Only workshop series for the first half of this year will be the Teapot Bonanza. A series of workshops and self-guided sessions will culminate in an exhibition of teapots at the Melville Open Studios event in May.
Note: The costs do not include clay, glazing and firing, these need to be covered directly by members.
Teapot demonstration: Saturday 7th March 2026 – 10 am to 3pm
Cost $35.00 for up to 25 members.
Clive Eger will review basic forms, techniques, tips and hints on building teapots including, galleries, spouts and handles and lids.
Cosi Cate will present a demonstration on throwing teapots including basic shapes, spouts, galleries .and lids plus assembly
Jane Aitken will do a similar demonstration on all aspects of hand building including the basic pot plus handles, spouts, lids and assembly. These will occur throughout the day
Workshop on teapots by Robert Hawes (2 dates)
Dates: Saturday 21st March 2026 9am – 12 Noon (repeated on Saturday 28th March 2026 1 – 4pm) – Cost $30- up to 10 members per session
Members who attended the demonstration and others who would benefit from hands on instruction may attend these hands-on workshops on one of two dates - Robert Hawes will be in attendance to assist. Please bring basic tools, about ¼ bag of stoneware clay and wear appropriate clothing. Preference will be given to those who attended the demo on the 7th of March.
Due to limited numbers, only one workshop is available for each participant, (unless places remain available).
Teapot Informal self-help Wednesday afternoons: Dates 11th, 18th & 25th March 2026- 1 – 4pm
This will be an opportunity to work on your teapots with support from other members. There will be advice in making lids, attaching handles and making and attaching spouts.
Jenny Rygiel and Peggy Stacy will offer support on the Wednesday sessions along with others who volunteer. There is no charge for these sessions
DEADLINE: All Teapots need to be completed by 8 April 2026 for Bisque Firingand glazing.
There will be support for glazing on Wednesday the 15th of April 1 to 4 pm and Saturday: the 18th of April 9 to 12 noon.
No charge for glazing but firing will be own cost.
OPEN STUDIO 1st and 2nd May 2026 -DISPLAY OF TEAPOTS will be at the open studios and there will be prizes for the different categories.
