from A$325.00
sold out

SORPC Members $325 Non-members $336

NOTE: Monday June 2nd is a public holiday (WA Day) and this class will NOT be held on that day.

For complete beginners to those looking to enhance their skills with tailored teaching to the level that you are at. There will be one-to-one time for each person at each lesson. I have been making pots on and off for around 50 years! But I’m still learning. I will show you some shortcuts that I have learned along the way.

I would like this class to be fun as well as a learning environment. What we will cover:

  •  Improve your ability to centre clay, both small and large.

  •  Improve on the thickness (thinness!) of your pieces

  •  Improve your confidence on the wheel

  •  Improve your trimming skills

  •  And the outcome we will aim for is for you to take home some pieces that you are proud of.

  •  Understand the importance of safety in the studio and the dangers of Silica dust

What to bring:

Please bring an apron or old shirt, an old towel and wear closed in shoes. Also, bring a basic tool set or purchase one from the studio for $10.00. A few plastic bags to cover work are useful and a plastic storage box will be very useful for storing work between weekly classes.

What is included:

Clay, glaze and firing.

There will be two bisque/glaze firing cycles during the course. Students will be asked to choose their best 12 pieces to be fired and glazed. Work produced towards the end of the course may not be able to be glazed in time.
