T2 Wheelwork with Finn Happ: Beginners to Intermediate - 8 weeks (Afternoon)

Tuesdays - 1pm to 4pm. (April 28 - June 22) 10 places (Adults)

SORPC Members $415; Non-members $455 10 places FULLY INCLUSIVE of clay, glazes, firing

Beginner to Intermediate - 8 Week - Tuesday 1pm-4pm

Beginners - This wheelwork course will have you dip your toe into the muddy bucket of the pottery process! 

Partake in the entire process from raw clay to fully functional glazed wares. Skills covered include centring, pulling walls, keeping the top from going wobbly, trimming and glazing. 


Intermediates - Observe the approach of a production potter, and let’s see if we can relax into an improved flow and confidence. 

Push the clay and your skills to the limits through low stakes throwing drills, every collapsed form giving you feedback and a deeper understanding of clay behaviour. 

Skills covered include centring, pulling walls, re-centring wobbly shapes, trimming and glazing. 


Course outline:

  • Week 1 - Throw

  • Week 2 - Throw

  • Week 3  - Trim, handles (and throw)

  • Week 4 - Glaze

  • Week 5 to 8 - Repeat

Note: The suggested schedule is just a guide, and your studio time can be used to work on any projects at your own pace

Please BYO tools (if you have any) and an old tea towel or old towel (for cleaning). 

Beginner tool kits can be purchased for $10.

Finn is a 3rd-generation potter, trained by his father. After high school, he spent five years working full-time in his Dad’s Busselton studio, learning production throwing. Now in Perth, he loves guiding potters of all abilities in relaxed short courses, using ceramics to connect and spark creativity. His favourite things to make include jugs, bottles, mugs, and large bowls. 


Option:
